Overview
The Senior Textile Designer will be responsible for designing appropriately for our customer base, providing yarn dyed pattern for all product areas for both Womenswear and Childrenswear. The role explores innovative sources of inspiration and carries out research on seasonal colours and pattern trends that are right for Boden. The Senior Textile Designer will produce pattern boards that complement and reinforce the seasonal stories created by the design team. These should follow the design brief laid down by the Design Director at the beginning of each season, and these need to be presented to the Founder and SLT. It is important that they sympathetically translate the seasonal palette onto CAD and directly work with all mills to develop the fabric alongside the Fabric team.

3-4 days per week at our North Acton office, the rest WFH.
Job Type
12 Month Maternity Cover – candidates applying must be comfortable with this.
What You Will Do
- Product Development: Working with Mills to develop and improve yarn dyed methods and develop fabric design in line with their speciality and yarn cards. To manage the design and development critical path. To prepare range presentations on CAD – working closely with design to present the best possible patterned options for each style and story, across all ranges. To prepare accurate, detailed packs that help the suppliers produce high quality strike-offs & hand looms. Managing the team for timely approvals. To ensure patterned photo samples look the best they can. To go on sourcing and development trips, where necessary. Carry out regular competitor research.
- Development: Support the fabric development of our amazing product working closely with internal teams and suppliers. Work closely with Design and Buying team to ensure all fabric information is correct in PLM. Ensure Boden does not infringe copyright or ownership on any vintage samples, swatches or ideas.
- Systems: Keep PLM and the Matrix up to date and accurate at all times.
- Communication: Build and maintain strong relationships with all cross functional teams / Suppliers and Mills. Work at pace and ensure deadlines are met whilst working on multiple seasons and divisions at one time. Manage your own workload and priorities, raise in advance if deadlines cannot be met. Ensure decisions are made quickly and speak up if something goes wrong.
What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrable track record with a brand similar in inspiration.
- Ideally a BA Hons, Textile Design in Weave.
- Excellent computer skills (Weave Software, Adobe, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Passionate and Technical experience in Woven Fabric design.
- Be creative and have a keen eye for detail.
- Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience of being part of a team, whilst able to work independently.
- Be organised, adaptable and enjoys a challenge.
- Clear communication and problem-solving skills.
- Great time management.
- Ability to multitask.
