Overview
The Solution Architect in Customer Domain will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing and governing end-to-end solutions in Customer Acquisition, Customer Retention, Content Marketing and Data Analytics for various Marketing, eCommerce and Data associated business processes. You will make sure that solutions meet the business requirements while aligning with the overall technology strategy and the identification of new opportunities for innovation. You will play a hands-on role working with other architects and technical leads to support architectural work, provide ongoing governance, and ensure alignment with our business and technology strategies.
Location: 2-3 days per week at our North Acton office, with the remaining days WFH.
What You Will Do
- Own and evolve the overall Customer Domain Solution Architecture, aligning Customer Acquisition, Retention, Content Marketing and Data Analytics solutions with business strategy.
- Design and document end-to-end customer-centric solutions across marketing, eCommerce and data platforms, covering software, infrastructure, integrations and data flows.
- Ensure all customer-domain architecture and technology decisions adhere to agreed principles, standards, templates, and security, compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Actively contribute to the Technical Design Authority (TDA), providing architectural leadership and governance for customer-facing and customer data platforms.
- Work closely with Product Owners and Business Analysts to shape customer roadmaps, assess feasibility and translate marketing and eCommerce needs into scalable solutions.
- Partner with third-party providers supporting customer, marketing and analytics platforms to ensure observability, reliability and effective alerting.
- Create and maintain architectural artefacts for the Customer Domain, including capability maps, customer journeys, value streams, data flows and conceptual, logical and physical designs.
- Identify opportunities for innovation within customer experience, personalisation and data-driven marketing, leading the evaluation and adoption of new technologies.
What We Are Looking For
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong hands-on solution architecture experience, delivering scalable, enterprise-grade solutions.
- Solid experience across digital business capabilities including eCommerce, CRM, CDP and Marketing platforms, ideally within a retail context.
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex, high-volume, high-performance systems using microservices and event-driven architectural patterns.
- Demonstrated expertise defining enterprise customer data architectures, covering conceptual, logical and physical models across multiple platforms.
- Strong cloud and platform expertise, particularly AWS (ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB), with solid experience across SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Broad technical skillset including Microsoft technologies (.NET/C#) and Python, underpinned by strong technical awareness and hands-on experience.
- Experience working within high-performing agile teams, driving architecture governance (technology selection, lifecycle management, design reviews) and sharing best practices; Shopify experience is a strong advantage.
