We are seeking a Senior Critical Engineering Manager to lead Hard FM operations across one of London's most prestigious and technically demanding corporate estates. Acting as the senior technical lead, you will be responsible for the delivery of engineering services across a flagship headquarters environment and several smaller London sites. This is a highly visible role requiring a blend of technical expertise, commercial awareness and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders within a fast-paced, business-critical setting. Leading an established engineering operation of approximately 25 engineers and technical specialists, you'll play a key role in maintaining operational resilience, driving performance and supporting the ongoing evolution of a landmark estate.
This role would suit an established Senior Engineering Manager looking to step into a flagship technical leadership position, as well as existing Critical Engineering Managers seeking a broader operational remit.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all Hard FM and critical engineering activities across the estate.
- Provide leadership to an engineering team of approximately 25 personnel across multiple disciplines.
- Directly manage the Technical Manager responsible for day-to-day operational delivery.
- Ensure operational resilience and business continuity across critical environments, including trading floors and data communications spaces.
- Drive delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Oversee engineering governance, compliance and audit readiness.
- Build strong relationships with both technical and senior stakeholders.
- Manage engineering budgets and maintain P&L responsibility.
- Support OPEX initiatives and CAPEX planning.
- Work closely with dedicated project teams delivering a substantial pipeline of engineering projects.
- Manage specialist contractors and suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement, succession planning and team development.
This opportunity would suit an experienced engineering leader from a Critical Engineering, Building Services, Hard FM or Technical Operations background. You will have:
- Significant experience leading engineering operations within critical environments.
- Extensive experience working within financial services environments, with exposure to major corporate headquarters and the demands of business-critical operations.
- Experience gained within landmark commercial estates of a similar scale and complexity will also be considered.
- Experience leading engineering operations within occupied, live environments where service continuity is critical.
- Exposure to high-rise headquarters or landmark commercial buildings.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to challenge and influence at senior levels.
- Previous P&L responsibility and strong commercial awareness.
- Experience managing large engineering teams.
- Electrical or Mechanical engineering qualifications (HNC, ONC, City & Guilds or equivalent).
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- Experience operating within an Authorised Person framework.
- Electrical bias.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.
- Experience within Canary Wharf or other landmark corporate estates.
- Previous exposure to major financial institutions or similarly prestigious environments.
- Experience delivering engineering services within occupied, business-critical estates.
£95,000 Basic Salary
£5,700 Car Allowance

Based primarily at, Canary Wharf, with oversight of several smaller London sites. Enhanced DBS and financial screening checks will be required. This is an active process with a four-stage interview, including a scenario-based case study assessment.
