The predicted salary is between 70000 - 80000 Β£ per year.
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will take full responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple frameworks and projects, leading a commercial team and supporting the business from tender stage through to final account. This is a senior role requiring strong NEC contract expertise, leadership capability, and the confidence to challenge risk, drive value, and support operational and work-winning teams. You will play a key part in regional financial control, governance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial & Contractual Management
- Lead the commercial management of multiple NEC3/NEC4 and bespoke contracts from award to completion
- Identify, manage and notify Early Warnings and Compensation Events
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual requirements, financial plans and governance standards
- Manage the dispute, defects and final account processes with clients and subcontractors
- Attend client meetings and manage contractual KPIs and commercial performance
- Financial Control & Reporting
- Produce and manage CVRs, cash flow forecasts and cost/value reports
- Take ownership of invoicing, applications for payment, and debt management
- Support the Senior Commercial Manager with regional management accounts and contract reviews
- Ensure accurate forecasting, risk management and cost control across all projects
- Oversee quotation approvals and ensure correct contract orders are in place
- Supply Chain & Procurement
- Manage and administer supply chain contracts and agreements
- Oversee subcontractor accounts, including applications for payment, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Issue and certify Payment Certificates and Pay Less Notices, maintaining full audit trails
- Minimise variation costs and protect commercial positions throughout delivery
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor and develop the Commercial Team, ensuring high standards and timely delivery
- Establish and run monthly project and senior project review meetings
- Promote best practice, consistency and continuous improvement across commercial processes
- Act as a role model for professional standards, collaboration and accountability
- Work Winning & Pre-Construction
- Provide commercial support to work-winning and pre-construction teams
- Support and participate in pre-tender reviews and bid submissions
- Provide cost advice and value engineering solutions where appropriate
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience managing the commercial performance of multiple projects or frameworks
- Strong practical knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
- Experience leading and developing a commercial or QS team
- Excellent MS Excel and financial reporting skills
- Confident communicator able to engage with clients, senior stakeholders and site teams
Desirable
- Background in civil engineering, utilities, power, infrastructure or construction
- Experience managing high-volume or framework-based projects
