We are seeking an experienced Authorising Engineer (Technical Assurance) to provide independent technical governance and compliance oversight across a major national estate comprising approximately 120 sites throughout the UK. Working on a prestigious broadcasting portfolio, you will act as the technical authority for electrical compliance, supporting engineering teams across a range of critical facilities. This is a strategic assurance role focused on engineering governance, competency management, auditing, risk reduction, and the continuous improvement of engineering standards rather than day-to-day operational delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe systems of work are maintained, engineering policies are adhered to, and operational teams are supported through robust technical guidance and compliance leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assurance and compliance oversight across a national engineering portfolio
  • Act as the subject matter expert for electrical engineering governance and safe systems of work
  • Conduct technical audits and compliance reviews, identifying risks and driving corrective actions
  • Assess, mentor and monitor Authorised Persons (APs) and Competent Persons (CPs) through competency management frameworks
  • Review, develop and maintain engineering procedures, policies and technical standards
  • Support investigations into technical incidents, safety events and compliance concerns
  • Produce technical directives, compliance bulletins and engineering guidance documentation
  • Provide expert technical advice to operational engineering teams and senior stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote engineering best practice across the estate
  • Ensure alignment with relevant industry standards, legislation and engineering governance requirements

The Person:

We are looking for an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in technical compliance, governance and electrical safety management within complex operational environments. You will possess:

  • Current Authorising Engineer (AE) status
  • Extensive HV/LV electrical engineering experience with a strong operational maintenance background
  • Significant experience auditing engineering operations and technical compliance programmes
  • Strong understanding of engineering governance, risk management and safe systems of work
  • Experience managing competency frameworks for engineering personnel
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to influence operational teams and drive improvements without direct line management responsibility
  • HND, HNC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline

The Following Would Be Advantageous:

  • Experience within critical environments such as broadcasting, data centres, healthcare, utilities, defence or transport
  • Professional registration (IEng or working towards CEng)
  • Experience supporting large, geographically dispersed engineering portfolios

What's On Offer?

  • Newly created strategic role within a prestigious national contract
  • Responsibility for technical assurance across approximately 120 sites nationwide
  • Significant autonomy and influence over engineering standards, governance and compliance
  • Opportunity to shape and enhance technical assurance strategy across a complex estate
  • Remote working with national exposure across a diverse portfolio of critical facilities
  • Competitive salary, car allowance and comprehensive benefits package
