We are looking for a skilled and motivated Multi-Skilled Engineer (Fabric) to join an established estates and facilities team supporting a busy acute hospital environment in Ashton-under-Lyne. This role is ideal for a fabric or joinery-biased technician with fire door experience, who takes pride in compliance, quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of building fabric, joinery and associated works across the hospital estate, ensuring statutory compliance, safety and service excellence at all times. Key responsibilities include:
- Planned and reactive maintenance of building fabric and joinery elements
- Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and identifying additional works through the PPM programme
- Planning, prioritising and resourcing works to meet service level requirements
- Ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety, environmental and statutory regulations
- Supporting fire strategy compliance, ensuring doors, walls, partitions and penetrations remain compliant
- Assisting with site inspections, decoration works and fabric condition close-outs
- Supporting lifecycle, refurbishment and minor works projects, including pricing support
- Sourcing materials and managing stock levels to support service delivery
- Supporting and collaborating with other multi-skilled technicians to complete PPM and reactive works
- Completing all required documentation and maintenance records accurately
- Developing positive working relationships with stakeholders, suppliers and subcontractors
- Reporting issues promptly to the Team Leader or Technical Services Manager
About You
You’ll be a proactive and reliable technician who can work under pressure, take ownership of tasks and see issues through to completion.
Essential requirements:
- Completed apprenticeship in Joinery or strong equivalent practical experience
- Ability to read drawings, method statements and technical diagrams
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable experience:
- Experience working in a healthcare or PFI environment
- Experience delivering PPM and reactive maintenance
- Working with fire strategies and fire-critical building elements
