Responsibilities

  • Ensure that trades are promptly captured in the trading systems and accurately validated against market and credit limits, with particular attention to trade details such as price, quantity, counterparty, and settlement date.
  • Oversee the matching and confirmation of trades via systems like LMEsmart and ICE Clear, ensuring that any discrepancies are resolved swiftly.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of client payments related to commodity trades, ensuring timely and accurate payments in line with contractual obligations.
  • Reconcile payment transactions to ensure that all client funds are appropriately accounted for and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
  • Liaise with clients to confirm payment details, address any payment-related inquiries, and resolve any issues that may arise during the payment process.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of trade positions and client payments with records from clearing houses like LME Clear and ICE Clear. Ensure consistency between internal systems and clearing house data.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, such as EMIR and MiFID II, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of trade and payment details.
  • Monitor and manage initial and variation margins as calculated by LME Clear and ICE Clear, ensuring timely posting of required margins to avoid default.
  • Efficiently manage collateral to meet margin calls, ensuring that sufficient funds or securities are available.
  • Continuously monitor trading limits, positions, client payments, and associated risks to ensure compliance with internal policies and clearing house requirements.
  • Maintain detailed audit trails of all trade capture, payment activities, and any amendments or cancellations to ensure compliance with regulatory and clearing house standards.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to trade settlements and payments.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, automation, and risk reduction within the trade capture, payment, and settlement processes.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in commodities operations, with extensive experience in overseeing operations related to LME, ICE, LBMA, and FX markets.
  • Experience in large, cross-functional teams and managing complex operational processes in a global financial environment.
  • Strong understanding of trading platforms, payment systems, settlement systems, and advanced skills in Excel.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in trade processing, payment management, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of global regulatory requirements, such as EMIR, MiFID II, and their application to commodities trading.
