To support our growth, Boccard are looking for experienced QC Inspectors to work at our fully digital manufacturing plant in Broughton. The role will involve the successful applicant(s) being part of an experienced team of quality engineers and QC inspectors and will work closely with technical and production departments in the manufacture of nuclear fabrications.

The role will be responsible for carrying out inspections on materials, components, and systems in accordance with the Project Quality Plan including contracts with Hinkley Point C (HPC) and future Nuclear New Build (NNB) sites. They will perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing and ensuring detailed records of inspections, tests, and audits are completed and maintained. They will also prepare and submit reports on quality issues, non-conformances, and corrective actions.

  • Inspection and Testing: Conduct inspections and tests on materials, components, and systems to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and audits. Prepare and submit reports on quality issues, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all activities comply with nuclear industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Monitor adherence to quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) plans.
  • Coordination and Communication: Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project management teams to address quality issues. Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding quality concerns and resolutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes and procedures. Identify and implement best practices in quality control.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have CSWIP 3.1 certified with experience in the field as a welding inspector.
  • Ideally have certification in PCN Level 2 MPI, PCN Level 2 UT, PCN Level 2 Radiographic Interpretation.
  • Advanced knowledge of modern welding procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with a good eye for detail.
  • Ideally have previous experience as a time served welder/fabricator or pipefitter.

The job holder will need to develop excellent working relationships with colleagues, managers and supervisors at all levels within the business as well as building relationships with external partners and suppliers.
