About The Role
Are you passionate about Health & Safety, environmental compliance, and keeping facilities operating at their best? At Bobman Manchester, we’re looking for a hands-on, proactive HSE & Facilities Officer to strengthen our safety culture, support compliance, and ensure the smooth running of our site—and occasionally beyond. This is not just an HSE role. It’s a varied, high-impact position that spans Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Facilities Coordination, and Business Continuity. You’ll work with shop-floor teams, engineering, contractors, quality specialists, and leadership. You’ll support audits, certifications, risk assessments, and site improvements—playing a vital role in keeping our people safe and our operations compliant.

What You’ll Do
- Every day, you’ll play a central role in keeping our site safe, compliant, and running efficiently. This is a hands‑on, meaningful role where your actions directly contribute to our operational success.
Champion a Safety‑First Culture
- Drive a proactive safety mindset across the Company.
- Translate safety data into meaningful action—monitor KPIs, analyse trends, and support continuous improvement.
- Assist with statutory reporting and legal compliance, including RIDDOR, LOLER, and legal registers.
- Contribute to H&S Committee meetings, support audits, and engage confidently during HSE visits.
- Be a visible presence on the shop floor, offering support, guidance, and practical problem solving.
Lead Practical Safety Improvements
- Conduct incident and near‑miss investigations, turning insights into preventative action.
- Create and maintain risk assessments, safe working practices, COSHH assessments, and audit documentation.
- Enhance contractor safety through RAMS reviews and permit-to-work coordination.
- Support engaging H&S inductions and internal training that help colleagues feel confident and informed.
Support Environmental Responsibility
- Support the Responsible Person in managing legionella risk across cooling towers and water systems.
- Prepare documentation for external audits and maintain accurate compliance records.
- Monitor utilities usage, solar panel performance, and support greenhouse gas emissions reporting.
- Assist with chemical waste handling, AlOx processes, and environmental incident response.
Strengthen Business Continuity
- Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of ISO 22301:2019 certification.
- Support business impact analyses, risk assessments, and continuity planning.
- Coordinate BCMS training, drills, and awareness sessions to build organisational resilience.
- Maintain structured BCMS documentation, audit evidence, and action tracking.
Keep Our Site Running Smoothly
- Coordinate day‑to‑day facilities activities across buildings, infrastructure, and site services.
- Act as the operational contact for facilities contractors and service providers.
- Maintain servicing schedules, compliance records, and maintenance documentation.
- Play a key role in the exciting 2026 site merge—supporting contractor access, works planning, documentation, and safety coordination.
- Ensure facilities activities meet Health & Safety and environmental standards.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a HSE, compliance, or operational support role.
- A hands-on, practical mindset with strong operational awareness.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Strong IT and administrative capability—Excel proficiency essential.
- Accountability, good judgement, and strong follow-up discipline.
- Relevant HSE qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH) are a strong advantage.
- Clear, adaptable communication across diverse teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with ISO management systems (45001, 22301, 9001).
- Gantt chart or project planning experience.
- Facilities or building maintenance coordination experience.
- Experience in engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with SAP, Salesforce, Power BI, and MS Office.
