About our Academy

About the MFL Department

As a teacher of MFL you will work with the MFL team in the delivery of this curriculum according to the teaching and learning handbook, and will develop staff through CPD and instructional coaching. You will also deliver the French curriculum, which began in the 2025/26 academic year, with the founding Year 7 moving into Year 8. At KS4 scholars follow the AQA GCSE Spanish specification, with an option to complete one of our home language exam packages. Our KS3‑4 curriculum is sequenced to ensure scholars master essential disciplinary and substantive knowledge for success at GCSE, A‑level and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the French curriculum and support the delivery of Spanish GCSE programmes.
  • Work with the MFL team in the delivery of the curriculum according to the teaching and learning handbook.
  • Develop staff through CPD and instructional coaching.
  • Lead developments in Spanish and French delivery with a focus on raising standards.
  • Coach staff across a range of levels.
  • Use data to inform teaching practice and programme improvements.
  • Motivate, inspire and develop colleagues.
  • Work under pressure and manage workload within a high‑performing context.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • A good honours degree in a relevant subject.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent subject knowledge of French and Spanish.
  • Experience of successful delivery of the GCSE French and Spanish programmes to a high standard.
  • Experience of coaching staff across a range of levels.
  • Experience of working in high‑performing contexts.
  • Commitment to research‑informed pedagogy and data‑driven teaching.
  • High expectations of staff and scholars.
  • Values‑driven with a strong moral purpose.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and reflective practice.
