Bobby Halliday Architects is looking for an experienced architect to join our small practice in Bridge of Allan. We are looking for someone who wants genuine responsibility for projects, direct involvement with clients and consultants, and the opportunity to play an important part in the practice as it develops.
BHA is a small architectural practice based in Bridge of Allan, working on bespoke homes and significant residential projects across Scotland. We take on a relatively small number of projects and remain closely involved in each of them. Our work often involves difficult sites, planning constraints, existing buildings, demanding briefs or clients who need considerable guidance in establishing what they should build.
We are looking for an architect capable of taking increasing responsibility for projects across planning, building warrant, technical design, tender and construction. The role involves working directly with clients and consultants, coordinating information, understanding how buildings go together and helping ensure that good design is properly carried through into the finished building.
Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who notices things: someone who asks questions, thinks ahead, researches answers, identifies issues before they become problems and is prepared to make sensible decisions. You don't need to arrive knowing everything or approach every problem in the same way we would. Good judgement, curiosity, initiative and the ability to learn matter more than that.
We're deliberately building a small practice rather than a large one. The intention is to work on fewer projects with experienced people taking meaningful responsibility for their outcome. For the right person, this offers considerable involvement in projects, proximity to decision-making and the opportunity to become an important part of the practice as it develops.
