About Bobblehat

Bobblehat is a specialist shopfitting, manufacturing and interior fit-out business delivering projects throughout the United Kingdom. Working across retail, hospitality, commercial and leisure sectors, we provide a complete service from design coordination and procurement through to manufacturing, installation and project delivery. Following the acquisition of our in-house manufacturing business, Dovetail Manufacturing, Bobblehat has evolved into a fully integrated manufacturing, joinery and fit-out business serving clients nationwide. As the business continues to grow, we are investing heavily in our people, systems and processes to build a scalable, data-driven organisation. This creates an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join our leadership team and help shape the future of the business.

Reporting directly to the Directors, the Financial Controller will lead and develop the finance function, providing accurate financial information, robust controls and commercial insight to support business decision-making. Supported by an established Finance Assistant, this role is focused on financial leadership, reporting, cashflow management, compliance, project profitability and business improvement rather than routine transaction processing. This is far more than a traditional finance role. You will work closely with the Directors, Project Managers and operational teams to improve reporting, strengthen controls and support the continued growth of the business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence systems, processes and reporting across the organisation while helping build a finance function capable of supporting future expansion.

  • Monitor project margins and commercial performance.
  • Support operational teams with financial information.
  • Improve reporting of project costs and performance.

Payroll, CIS & Compliance

  • Oversee payroll processes.
  • Manage CIS compliance and subcontractor verification.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT and Domestic Reverse Charge requirements.
  • Review VAT returns.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC and Companies House obligations.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Improve integration between Sage, Dext and operational systems.
  • Develop management reporting and KPI dashboards.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
  • Support the continued development of financial systems and controls.

Leadership

  • Support and develop the Finance Assistant.
  • Establish clear procedures and responsibilities.
  • Promote accountability, accuracy and continuous improvement.

About You

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or suitably qualified through significant relevant experience. You will ideally possess:

  • Strong understanding of CIS, VAT and Domestic Reverse Charge.
  • Experience producing management accounts and cashflow forecasts.
  • Excellent analytical and commercial skills.
