We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead the back-of-house operations at Bob and Berts. The ideal candidate has a passion for food, coffee and delivering top-notch customer service, and can manage a small team while maintaining high standards of food quality and speed. You will take ownership of the kitchen, including inventory, staff scheduling, menu development, and food safety, ensuring a "5-star" experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring prompt service and high-quality food preparation, especially during busy breakfast and lunch shifts.
  • Food Preparation & Quality Control: Prepare and cook menu items (e.g., breakfasts, pastries, burgers) according to recipes, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Stock & Inventory Management: Oversee food inventory, place orders with suppliers, manage deliveries, and conduct weekly stocktakes to minimise waste and ensure profitability.
  • Staff Scheduling & Training: Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen personnel (cooks/porters), creating schedules that maximise productivity during peak hours.
  • Hygiene & Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g., Allergen Management, Food Hygiene Level 2/3) and maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the manager to suggest new food items, specials, and seasonal offerings to enhance the menu.
  • Front-of-House Coordination: Communicate effectively with front of house staff to ensure seamless coordination between the kitchen and the counter.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Kitchen Supervisor, Cafe Chef, or similar role in a high-volume café/restaurant environment.
  • Skills: Proven ability to manage inventory, costings, and kitchen staff.
  • Attitude: Hands-on leader, calm under pressure, and highly organised.
  • Availability: Ability to work weekends and mornings.
  • Right to work in the UK
