We are looking for a friendly and reliable Supervisor to join our team. The Supervisor ensures the smooth daily operation of the day by leading the team, maintaining high-quality service standards, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. They act as the "manager on duty," supporting staff, managing inventory, and handling customer needs to drive profitability and customer loyalty.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily opening and closing procedures, ensuring the premises is secure, clean, and ready for business.
- Manage staff workflow, delegating tasks effectively to optimize service during peak hours.
- Ensure all equipment (espresso machines, grinders, brewers) is properly functioning, and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and health regulations.
- Staff Training & Supervision
- Train new hires and provide ongoing coaching to baristas on drink preparation, customer service, and POS operations.
- Motivate the team to maintain high energy and provide friendly, "nothing is too much trouble" service.
- Assist in creating employee rotas and ensuring adequate coverage for shifts.
- Customer Service & Product Quality
- Act as the primary point of contact for resolving customer queries and complaints promptly.
- Uphold quality standards for all coffee beverages, food, and products served.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests.
- Inventory & Financial Management
- Perform stock checks and assist with ordering inventory (coffee, milk, pastries, takeaway supplies) to minimize waste.
- Manage cash handling, including auditing cash drawers, reconciling daily sales, and preparing bank deposits.
- Maximize catering sales by ensuring attractive merchandising of food items.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years in a fast-paced café, restaurant, or retail environment, with previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Barista Skills: Proven proficiency in operating commercial espresso machines and preparing specialty coffee drinks.
- Leadership: Strong communication skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and coach a team.
- Customer Service: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to handle conflict resolution professionally.
- Technical: Experience with POS systems and basic math skills for cash management.
- Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and early mornings.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods (up to 8 hours).
- Ability to lift up to 30-50 lbs (milk crates, coffee bags, etc.).
