BoardOutlook is a fast-growing SaaS company providing governance technology to boards and top executives around the world. We are now looking for a Private Capital Director to lead our growth in private equity and private capital markets globally. This role is ideal for someone with deep relationships across PE firms and private capital entities, who is passionate about governance and excited to bring a differentiated product to the world’s most ambitious investors and boards.
BoardOutlook builds performance management software designed for the Board of Directors of large and complex organisations. Practically, our platform helps boards to:
- Review their own performance
- Measure and understand skill gaps
- Assess the performance of the CEO
- Understand key risks across the organisation
In practice, this means helping people who run large organisations, and the investors behind them, to make better decisions when it counts. In a single year, boards make decisions that can reshape industries, protect or unlock billions of dollars in value and impact thousands of employees and stakeholders. These are the decisions we help improve every day.
At BoardOutlook we’re a growing and ambitious team. Our values are the foundation of how we work:
- We hold ourselves to account: high standards and pride in outcomes.
- We play as a team: we make each other’s jobs easier, and step beyond titles.
- We think like winners: optimism, confidence and ambition.
- We are brave: courageous in our goals and respectful in our challenge.
If these resonate, you’ll likely thrive here.
Private equity and private capital firms are increasingly focused on governance as a lever to protect and unlock value. We see enormous opportunity to help investors improve portfolio board performance through BoardOutlook. The Private Capital Director will take ownership of this opportunity globally, leading business development with PE firms and portfolio boards. Working closely with our Head of Strategic Accounts, you’ll build a pipeline of relationships, shape our go-to-market approach in this segment and drive adoption of our platform as the gold standard for board performance in private capital.
In your first 90 days, you will:
- Map and prioritise key global private capital accounts.
- Leverage your existing relationships to open doors at PE firms and portfolio companies.
- Lead early sales conversations and position BoardOutlook as a trusted partner in driving portfolio value creation through governance.
- Develop account strategies and opportunity pipelines, logged and tracked in HubSpot.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and execute events targeted at private capital audiences.
- Share insights from the market back into our product and content teams to refine messaging and positioning.
We’re looking for someone with a strong track record in business development, ideally with 7+ years of experience, and with deep relationships in private equity and private capital markets. You will also bring:
- A passion for governance and a belief in its role in unlocking enterprise value.
- A strong network across PE firms and portfolio boards globally.
- Exceptional relationship‑building skills, credible with Chairs, Directors and Operating Partners.
- A proven ability to open doors and build trust at senior levels.
- Confidence leading enterprise sales meetings and managing complex deal cycles.
- Strong organisational skills and able to set clear goals, manage a pipeline and deliver results.
- The flexibility and ambition to work in a fast‑paced, global startup environment.
This is a global role. Our head office is in Melbourne, with a team in London where we envisage you will be based. We work flexibly, but expect regular collaboration across time zones and international travel for key meetings and events.
Our compensation package for this role is £80K‑£90K. We also offer a generous ESOP (share option) grant for permanent employees. The ESOP gives employees meaningful financial participation and upside in the success of the business.
Our hiring process is designed to test three things:
- Capability to deliver on the role requirements (including a short practical test).
- Approach and drivers, explored through interviews and references.
- Cultural fit, tested against our target behaviours.
You can expect three interviews plus a short practical test. We respect your time and typically get back to candidates within days, not weeks.
To apply, please send a short email with your CV and a written outline of your relevant experience. Please include “Private Capital Director” in the subject line.
