Board Intelligence is a technology and advisory firm on a mission to make boards more effective, and through them, build better businesses and benefit society.
Over twenty years we have established ourselves as the market leader in governance and board effectiveness, trusted by more than 80,000 directors, executives, and governance professionals globally, including across the Fortune 500, FTSE 100, and OMX 30.
That trust has been earned through depth of insight, rigorous advisory work, and a track record that newer entrants simply cannot replicate.
We have invested in applied AI since 2020, well ahead of the market, and that early conviction has paid off.
Our AI‑powered platform and smart board advisor give us a competitive advantage that is widening, not narrowing.
In 2024, K1 Investment Management, the leading B2B Enterprise Saa S investor, backed us to accelerate that position further.
We are now growing fast, with a proven commercial model spanning both mid‑market and enterprise, and a product suite that has become a necessary addition in high‑stakes board environments.
The people joining us now will shape how we scale.
We are deliberate about how we do that.
Our founders and leadership team are deeply invested in keeping the culture that got us here: thoughtful, high calibre, and genuinely human.
Ambition and balance are not in competition at Board Intelligence.
If you want to work at the intersection of AI and governance, on problems that matter at the highest level, this is a strong place to be.
Our Mission
We unleash the potential of organisations through the science of board effectiveness, building better businesses and benefitting society.
The Role
Board Intelligence is scaling fast as a B2B Saa S business, and our Product Design function is well established, with clear ways of working already in place.
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to play a critical role in design delivery across our platform, owning significant design workstreams end to end, from an ambiguous brief through to a shipped feature.
You will work closely with Product Management and Engineering to ship features used by governance leaders at some of the world's largest organisations.
And because product design is changing fast, you will help set the standard for how our team uses AI, both in the experiences we design and in how we design them.
- Main Responsibilities
- Own significant product design workstreams end to end, from discovery through to shipped feature; comfortable taking an ambiguous brief and defining your own approach.
- Lead problem definition using first principles thinking.
Get the team aligned on the problem and the outcome before proposing solutions, and stay outcome focused rather than output focused.
- Turn research into clear design direction; defining personas, mapping journeys, and forming and testing hypotheses.
- Produce distinctive, polished work across web and mobile; wireframes, prototypes, and high fidelity UI, and raise the quality bar in critique.
- Build working, high fidelity prototypes, including in front end code or with AI coding tools, to test ideas and get them in front of users faster.
- Design the experience of AI powered and agentic features: how AI generated content, agent actions, recommendations, and automation are surfaced, explained, and made trustworthy for users.
- Help build and improve our design system: creating and documenting components, and partnering with the designers who own the system to get them implemented and adopted consistently.
- Set up and run user testing, and use what you learn to iterate.
- Share your expertise generously: bringing peers with you, educating non‑design colleagues across the business, and playing an active part in building a world class design team. (This role has no line management responsibility.)
- Make conscious design trade‑offs informed by commercial context, and communicate design decisions clearly to non‑design audiences across the business.
- How we work with AI
- Product design is changing fast, and we want someone who is already part of that change, not waiting for it to settle.
AI fluency is a core requirement for this role, not a nice to have.
- You already integrate AI tools confidently into your day‑to‑day design work, for example Claude, Figma AI, prompt‑based prototyping, and AI assisted research synthesis, to move faster and raise the quality of your output.
- You have a clear point of view on when AI helps and when it doesn't.
You ask hard questions about where AI should and shouldn't be applied, and you protect craft, originality, and user trust rather than trading them away for speed.
- You share what you learn, raising the whole team's capability with new tools and workflows.
- You are energised by a role in flux. As tools and expectations change, you adapt your ways of working rather than defending the old ones.
What we're looking for
- An experienced Senior Product Designer with a track record of owning design delivery end to end across B2B Saa S products.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, you can take a loosely defined brief and shape it into clear, testable design direction.
- Exceptional craft: strong UX fundamentals combined with high quality visual design, and the judgment to know what 'good' looks like.
- A confident communicator who can present to stakeholders, defend design decisions, and bring non‑design audiences with you.
- Commercially aware, you connect design choices to business outcomes and can speak the language of the business.
- Generous with your expertise, you bring peers along, help non‑design colleagues understand design, and contribute to a culture of honest feedback, without needing formal management responsibility.
- Required experience and skills
- Proven experience as a Product Designer in a scaling B2B Saa S environment.
- A strong portfolio showing ownership of the full product design process, including at least one AI powered or agentic feature.
- Demonstrable, hands‑on use of AI in your design workflow, able to show us how you've changed the way you work (for example with Claude, Figma AI, or similar).
- Demonstrable ability to prototype in front end code (HTML / CSS / JS), or using AI coding tools, to build and test working prototypes, be ready to show us examples of what you've built.
- Highly skilled in Figma.
- Strong UX fundamentals alongside high quality visual design.
- Experience running user research and testing, and translating findings into design changes.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make a clear case for design decisions.
- Nice to have
- Experience designing for regulated, governance, or enterprise contexts.
- Experience contributing to design system governance at scale.
- What good looks like in this role
- Your design work ships reliably and measurably improves how users complete key tasks on the platform.
- AI powered features you design are understood and trusted by users, they know what the AI is doing and why.
- The design system is healthier for your involvement, reducing rework and inconsistency across the platform.
- The team's AI capability is higher because of what you've shared, decisions get made faster and better, not just faster.
- Peers and colleagues across the business seek out your input, and your knowledge sharing raises the quality of their work.
- Stakeholders across the business understand and buy into design decisions before build starts.
Benefits
- Pension scheme
- Personal performance bonus
- 26 days holiday each calendar year
- Bupa health & dental cover
- Group life assurance
- EAP
- Cycle to work scheme
- Diversity, equity and inclusion
