Board Intelligence is a technology and advisory firm on a mission to make boards more effective, and through them, build better businesses and benefit society. Over twenty years we have established ourselves as the market leader in governance and board effectiveness, trusted by more than 80,000 directors, executives, and governance professionals globally, including across the Fortune 500, FTSE 100, and OMX 30.

We have invested in applied AI since 2020, well ahead of the market, and that early conviction has paid off. Our AI-powered platform and smart board advisor give us a competitive advantage that is widening, not narrowing. In 2024, K1 Investment Management, the leading B2B Enterprise SaaS investor, backed us to accelerate that position further. We are now growing fast, with a proven commercial model spanning both mid-market and enterprise, and a product suite that has become a necessary addition in high-stakes board environments.

The people joining us now will shape how we scale. We are deliberate about how we do that. Our founders and leadership team are deeply invested in keeping the culture that got us here: thoughtful, high calibre, and genuinely human. Ambition and balance are not in competition at Board Intelligence.

If you want to work at the intersection of AI and governance, on problems that matter at the highest level, this is a strong place to be.

Our Mission

We unleash the potential of organisations through the science of board effectiveness, building better businesses and benefitting society.

The Role

You own CRM and email as a performance channel. That means the sends, the segments, the data underneath them, and the decisions about what goes to whom and when. You will build, QA and send emails across HubSpot and Planhat, own database quality, own the cross channel send calendar, and report on how the channel performs. You will generate and test your own copy variants using AI rather than waiting on someone else. You will work closely with Sales, Customer Success and our GTM Engineer so that outbound sequences and marketing communications complement each other instead of competing for the same inbox. This is a role for someone early in their marketing career who wants to own a channel rather than support one.

Main Responsibilities

  • Build, QA, schedule and send emails across HubSpot and Planhat, generating and testing your own copy variants against segment behaviour.
  • Own database hygiene, enrichment and list building, automating the repeatable parts.
  • Own the cross channel send calendar. You decide how much we send and when, and you protect the contact experience.
  • Own engagement health across the database, including re-engagement decisions, flow design, and measuring whether flows still work over time.
  • Report on CRM as a performance channel: deliverability, opens, clicks, conversions, and what to do differently next month.
  • Ensure leads entering the CRM are compliant, enriched, correctly tracked, and triggering the right downstream actions, including opportunity creation.
  • Work with Sales and Customer Success so outbound sequences, including Gong Engage, complement marketing communications rather than clash with them.
  • Work with the GTM Engineer on CRM integrations, lead scoring models, and data flows.
  • Flag and escalate site issues that affect campaign performance, including page speed and broken journeys.

Person Specification

This role suits someone at the start of their marketing career who is already AI native in how they work, comfortable with data, and exacting about detail. We are open to candidates with one to three years in a CRM, lifecycle or email marketing role, ideally in B2B SaaS, and equally open to strong early career candidates with no marketing experience who can evidence the qualities below. HubSpot, Planhat and HTML can all be taught to the right person. Campaign strategy and creative concepting sit elsewhere in the team. This role owns the channel, the data, and the decisions about how we reach people.

Required Skills and Experience

  • You are AI native. You use AI as a standard part of how you work, for copy variants, segmentation logic, QA and reporting summaries.
  • You are data first. You read your own campaign data, you spot your own problems, and you do not wait for someone else to interpret the numbers.
  • You learn fast and you can prove it. You can name something you got wrong in the last twelve months and what you changed because of it.
  • You have exacting standards. You catch the broken link, the wrong merge tag and the off brand copy before a contact does.
  • You understand email best practice, or you have a genuine appetite to learn it: deliverability, segmentation, testing, and what good looks like across devices.
  • You are a clear communicator who can explain channel performance to people who do not work in CRM.
  • You are organised across several workstreams at once and you make your own calls on sequencing.
  • You are a collaborative operator across Sales, Customer Success and Marketing who keeps ownership of your own domain.

Nice to haves

  • Hands on experience with HubSpot.
  • Familiarity with Planhat or a comparable customer success platform.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, enough to diagnose formatting issues and keep templates clean.
  • We would also consider people currently working in marketing operations, agency email production, sales development running their own sequences, or reporting and analytics roles looking to move into marketing.

What good looks like in this role

  • Twelve months in: You have rebuilt at least one core lifecycle flow, with the data showing it outperforms what it replaced.
  • You have established a send calendar and a contact frequency standard that Sales, Customer Success and Marketing all work to.
  • Database quality is at a measurable standard, with enrichment and hygiene largely automated rather than manual.
  • You produce a quarterly CRM performance view that leadership uses to make decisions.
  • You have redesigned something you inherited, because the data told you to.
