We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Mandate Monitoring to join our Mandate Monitoring, Front Office Services team. This role is located in London, United Kingdom.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Perform and oversee automated and manual exception monitoring activities, ensuring issues are investigated, resolved, and escalated where appropriate.
- Review new fund launches, mandate changes, prospectus updates, and ad hoc requests to determine monitoring requirements, coding feasibility, and implementation approach.
- Interpret investment management agreements, prospectuses, regulatory rules, and internal policy requirements to assess whether guidelines can be automated or require manual oversight.
- Maintain and enhance pre-trade and post-trade mandate monitoring rules and restrictions across relevant monitoring systems.
- Support offshore mandate monitoring teams in daily post-trade monitoring, exception management, and execution of manual controls.
- Maintain stop lists, restricted lists, procedures, and operating documentation to ensure a robust and well-controlled monitoring environment.
- Partner with Front Office, Client Services, Compliance, Risk, Controls, Technology, and other operational teams to resolve queries and improve end-to-end monitoring processes.
- Identify process risks, control gaps, and recurring breach themes, and contribute to practical solutions that strengthen control effectiveness and reduce future exceptions.
- Provide subject matter expertise, training, and guidance to team members on mandate interpretation, rule coding, and exception handling.
- Contribute to change initiatives, system enhancements, AI solutions, and broader mandate monitoring projects, delivering assigned work within agreed timelines.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Demonstrated experience in mandate monitoring within an investment management or asset servicing environment.
- Hands-on experience coding, testing, and maintaining investment guideline rules in Aladdin.
- Experience investigating and resolving pre-trade and post-trade exceptions in partnership with portfolio management and oversight teams.
- Experience interpreting discretionary client investment management agreements, fund prospectuses, and investment and borrowing powers.
- Strong understanding of the investment management lifecycle across multiple asset classes and client types.
- Strong knowledge of mandate monitoring processes, including rule automation, exception monitoring, breach analysis, and control frameworks.
- Working knowledge of UK, Irish, US, and Luxembourg retail fund regulations and related investment restrictions.
- Strong business-user technology skills and confidence working across monitoring systems, workflow tools, and productivity enhancement applications.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex documentation accurately.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills, particularly when assessing guideline intent, materiality, and escalation requirements.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex restrictions and monitoring outcomes to varied stakeholders.
- Collaborative and proactive approach, with a continuous improvement mindset and commitment to high control standards.
