We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Specialist, Controls to join our 1LoD Risk Controls Practice team. This role is located in Manchester.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Identifies, analyzes, monitors, and completes control testing, control and risk education, and operational and risk support activities to the business.
- Interprets regulations affecting control standards with large degree of independence and suggests methods of updating policies and practices to address any risk concerns.
- Prepares reports and provides insight to business on control/risk management including Error/Near Miss analyses.
- Responsible for interpreting regulations in order to adjust and improve internal controls.
- Ensures that existing control and business recovery practices and procedures are documented.
- Works with the business to understand the controls currently in place to minimize risk.
- Tests control systems and communicate the successful and efficient performance of control and business recovery procedures.
- Contributes to the achievement of team objectives.
- Supports moderately complex projects and provides insight on interpretation of regulations.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Experience in risk management and internal controls implementation.
- Solid understanding of risk management principles, control frameworks, and the Three Lines of Defense model within large organizations.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, relationship-building, and communication skills, with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines and align with strategic goals.
- Experience working in high-pressure environments and effectively communicating complex risk topics to senior leadership and technical teams.
- A highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter mindset with the ability to prioritize, take initiative, and work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, demonstrating strong quantitative and qualitative capabilities.
