We are seeking a future team member for the role of Full Stack Engineer to join our team. This role is located in Manchester. BNY is seeking a Vice President, Software Engineering to lead high-impact teams. This role encompasses end-to-end delivery ownership, elevating engineering standards, nurturing talent, and collaborating closely with product and business stakeholders.
This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on leader who excels in agile environments and transforms complex business challenges into elegant, dependable solutions. Responsibilities include:
- Setting clear objectives, coaching talent, and fostering succession planning.
- Owning end-to-end delivery for critical software: requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and reliability.
- Raising engineering excellence and resilience through best practices and automation across code, testing, microservices/APIs, performance, and infrastructure.
- Ensuring compliance, risk management, and operational excellence aligned to BNY's principles and strategic pillars.
Proven leadership of software engineering teams building distributed systems and microservices in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) is required. Deep Java experience (Spring), architectural patterns for scalable, observable, testable systems, and strong DevOps practices (GitLab) are essential. Experience with automated testing (JUnit/Spock), code reviews, telemetry/observability (Splunk, AppDynamics), containers (Docker), and cloud is also necessary.
Hands-on AI development using modern tools and IDEs (e.g., Windsurf) and experience integrating AI into product workflows is preferred. Groovy/Spock and JavaScript/TypeScript with Angular for full-stack contexts are also preferred. A financial services background with risk and controls in regulated environments is advantageous.
