The Markets Control team is a dynamic team that supports the BNY Markets execution business in FX, Fixed Income, Equities, Liquidity and Margin Services, and Securities Finance. The role will be based in London and will operate with minimal oversight to enhance accountability, reinforce control capabilities, and strengthen the Markets Control Supervision framework.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance mitigating controls to strengthen the supervisory framework, including Cancel & Amends, Trader Mandate exception alerting, out-of-hours and off-premises trading checks.
- Interpret trade and booking workflows and apply that knowledge to the development of associated controls.
- Promote a strong regulatory mindset across the Markets business through thorough knowledge of global regulation (FINRA, MiFID, MAR) and financial markets.
- Provide regulatory input into market abuse surveillance activities, handle enquiries from second‑line compliance surveillance colleagues, assist with the compilation of the market abuse risk assessment, and support market abuse parameter reviews.
- Oversee pricing check controls for FX, Equities and Fixed Income trading with the first‑line Controls team, using proprietary tools and ensuring best‑execution governance.
- Identify and report instances where clients may not have received best execution; manage associated governance meetings and liaise with model‑risk partners for product development.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in FX trading, ideally across G10 and/or EM currencies.
- Deep knowledge of FX products including spot, forwards, swaps, NDFs and options.
- Strong understanding of FX market structure, pricing mechanics, liquidity, spreads, and execution channels.
- Ability to interpret market events and distinguish legitimate trading behavior from potential anomalies.
- Experience in surveillance, conduct risk, front‑office controls, trade review or electronic trading oversight is highly desirable.
- Investigative skills and an analytical mindset are essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to understand compliance policies and to allocate tasks in accordance with procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
