We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Counsel to join our Commercial Law Group. This role is located in London or Manchester.
Responsibilities
- Structuring, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of vendor agreements, with a particular focus on market data and technology‑related contracts.
- Acting as a key legal advisor on BNY’s market data strategy, partnering with stakeholders across the business, Legal, and sourcing teams to help shape and support strategic direction.
- Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to support governance, sourcing, and risk management activities in connection with market data procurement and other vendor relationships.
- Keeping up to date with developments in market data licensing practices, regulatory expectations, and industry trends, and assisting with corresponding updates to documentation, processes, and approaches.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with a legal degree and 5+ years of post‑qualification experience, ideally gained at a leading law firm or financial institution.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and advising on market data agreements, technology, and other commercial arrangements.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in AI, automation, and advanced legal technology.
- Strong legal and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex contractual frameworks and commercial models.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations relevant to market data and third‑party service arrangements in the financial services sector.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, global environment.
- Commercially minded, pragmatic, and adaptable, with a solutions‑orientated approach.
- Strong communicator and effective collaborator across teams and functions.
- Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and development.
- Experience with contract lifecycle management tools is a plus.
