We're seeking a future team member for the role of European Bank Chief Data Officer, Director to join our Data team. This role is located in London.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead the European Bank's data governance framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations for risk data aggregation and reporting, including BCBS 239 and related supervisory standards.
  • Own and oversee regulatory remediation programmes related to data governance and risk reporting, including coordination of findings, evidence, and closure submissions with regulators and audit functions.
  • Define and implement the European Bank Data Quality Framework, embedding clear ownership, controls, metrics, and escalation mechanisms across governed reports and data assets.
  • Ensure transparency and completeness of critical data assets by overseeing report inventories, data sourcing documentation, lineage, and data contract lifecycle artefacts.
  • Act as the senior point of accountability for data governance matters in European Bank executive and board level forums, providing clear, accurate, and timely reporting on data risks and remediation progress.
  • Serve as the International–European Bank liaison to Enterprise Data Teams, securing alignment to enterprise policies and standards and enabling effective cross-functional collaboration, delivery, and continuous contribution.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Advanced university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. data, finance, risk management, economics, or information systems), with a strong understanding of data governance and regulatory environments in banking.
  • Extensive senior level experience in data governance, risk data aggregation, regulatory reporting, or related control frameworks within a regulated financial institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex regulatory remediation programmes and to engage credibly and articulately with supervisors, internal audit, and second line of defence functions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven track record of influencing executive management, committees, and boards on data related risks and decisions.
  • Ability to translate complex data and controls into clear, authoritative regulatory, executive, and audit materials that withstand scrutiny and support strategic decisions.
  • Proven people leadership and team development capabilities, including the ability to coach specialists and coordinate cross functional contributors toward common outcomes.
