We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Counsel – Investments to join our Legal team.

This role is located in Manchester or London.

You will serve as a day-to-day advisor for BNY Investments’ affiliated investment firms in the UK and their related, international business.

These include Newton Investment Management, Walter Scott & Partners and BNY Mellon Investment Management EMEA.

You’ll join the BNY Investments & Wealth practice within the broader BNY Legal department—an experienced, collaborative team across the UK, US, Hong Kong, Japan and Brazil.

You’ll bring a working knowledge of investment management regulation, with some hands-on experience of working in the investment management sector.

What you’ll do: Partner with commercial teams supporting client mandates.

Advise on UK and international legal/regulatory issues across the investment management lifecycle.

Negotiate and draft investment management agreements for a broad client base (including sovereign and government-related entities, pension schemes, UCITS managers and AIFMs).

Support trading and derivatives activity, including counterparty documentation and related powers, authorities and representations required in client documentation.

Work closely with Compliance on FCA requirements and broader regulatory change, and help shape firm policies and procedures.

Contribute to key Legal initiatives, partnering with colleagues globally on time-sensitive work.

Bring pragmatic judgement to new products and services—helping teams move quickly.
