Institutional Accounting provides portfolio accounting and reporting as a value-added service to clients of the BNYM core custody business. The service delivers an audited market valuation for a portfolio or group of portfolios, together with supporting transaction details, within agreed deadlines.

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Specialist, Fund/Client Accounting II to join our Global Institutional Accounting team. This role is located in Manchester.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Under the direction of the manager: direct, motivate, and develop staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
  • Review work output to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to assess issues and strategize improvements.
  • Attend calls with stakeholders/fund managers, provide updates on outstanding items.
  • Act as point of escalation and raise areas of concern to senior management.
  • Ensure that the team know what is expected of them. Delegates work fairly and clearly and provides adequate support to make delegation successful. Allow all employees to contribute/participate.
  • Develop own knowledge to include the financial products used by our clients; digital tools on offer in the Bank; operational procedures within the department and those of our internal stakeholders; and current market developments.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Financial industry knowledge preferred but not essential.
  • Attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise to meet stringent demands.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with stakeholders and team members.
  • Excellent numerical skills, with accurate manipulation and analysis of data.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office products, in particular utilising Excel spreadsheets. Experience using advanced functions would be desirable.
  • Quick to acquire new skills and promotes the development of others.
  • Understands the high-stakes nature of the financial services environment and can confidently navigate the varying demands of the role.
  • Self-motivator with a desire to contribute to the team's successes.
  • Ability to lead, provide guidance, support, and motivation to ensure deadlines are met.
