We’re seeking a Custody Oversight Specialist to join our Trustee and Depositary team. This role is based in London.

In this role, you will contribute in the following ways

  • Reporting directly to the Head of Custody Oversight, the successful candidate will support management with day-to-day custody oversight activities in line with applicable laws, rules, regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • The candidate will operate within the Trustee and Depositary Custody Oversight framework, providing management with key information on the oversight lifecycle for in-scope custody delegation and inter-affiliate outsourcing arrangements, including initial appointment, ongoing monitoring, annual review, and termination.
  • The candidate will evaluate the performance of in-scope custody delegation and inter-affiliate outsourcing arrangements.
  • Prepare and maintain review schedules under the direction of the Head of Custody Oversight.
  • Complete scheduled reviews in line with the planned schedule and current procedures and policies.
  • Prepare and provide regular key risk indicators, performance indicators, and other relevant management information for in-scope arrangements.
  • Escalate any urgent matters to the attention of management.
  • Maintain an efficient and robust process for managing ongoing market incidents, issues, and concerns, including monitoring developments proactively and providing support, expertise and guidance on asset safety matters.
  • Assist in analyzing regulatory and market trends to identify potential risks to asset safekeeping and present proposals to mitigate those risks across businesses.
  • Operate with a high degree of independence, conduct analysis and lead program activity to align regulatory requirements and internal control standards.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of meaningful tracking metrics for management reporting and escalation.
  • Participate in regular service review meetings.
  • Strengthening and enhancing the control environment by challenging current processes and recommending control improvements where appropriate.
  • Provide cross-training to colleagues and participate in cross-training where necessary.
  • Represent the custody oversight team at internal governance forums and councils when required.
  • Assist with any ad hoc tasks as requested.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following

  • Experience in global custody and depositary is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of FCA, CASS, UCITS and AIFMD regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to identify key operational risk issues, to summarize them efficiently, and to escalate them in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships and communicate confidently at all levels with key decision-makers across departments and locations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and autonomy.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with reporting lines and team colleagues based in Dublin.
  • Degree-level qualification, preferably in a business, legal, accounting or finance discipline.
