We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Counsel to join our Commercial Law Group. This role is located in London or Manchester.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Structuring, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of vendor agreements, with a particular focus on market data and technology-related contracts.
- Acting as a key legal advisor on BNY’s market data strategy, partnering with stakeholders across the business, Legal, and sourcing teams to help shape and support strategic direction.
- Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to support governance, sourcing, and risk management activities in connection with market data procurement and other vendor relationships.
- Keeping up to date with developments in market data licensing practices, regulatory expectations, and industry trends, and assisting with corresponding updates to documentation, processes, and approaches.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Qualified lawyer with a legal degree and 5+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained at a leading law firm or financial institution.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and advising on market data agreements, technology, and other commercial arrangements.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in AI, automation, and advanced legal technology.
- Strong legal and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex contractual frameworks and commercial models.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations relevant to market data and third-party service arrangements in the financial services sector.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Commercially minded, pragmatic, and adaptable, with a solutions-orientated approach.
- Strong communicator and effective collaborator across teams and functions.
- Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and development.
- Experience with contract lifecycle management tools is a plus.
