About the Role: We are seeking a Sales Account Manager – Maritime Defence to join our growing team at BMT. This is a key sales position focused on securing profitable order intake within the maritime defence sector. You will manage client accounts, identify new leads, and build strong customer relationships. The role involves maintaining and progressing the sales pipeline, tracking opportunities, and ensuring timely follow-ups. You will work closely with senior sales and delivery teams in the ships and submarine sectors to understand client needs, coordinate meetings, and help convert prospects into signed projects. The position supports and executes growth strategies, developing long-term plans to expand BMT’s capabilities and technologies within the UK and EU. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is essential. You will bring the voice of the customer into BMT, providing feedback to product and delivery teams for capability improvements. Success in this role requires a blend of technical and interpersonal skills, strong analytical thinking, and excellent communication.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, qualify, bid for, and secure new opportunities
- Lead the capture and bidding of prospects, including developing win strategies and selecting partners
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, understanding their business needs and objectives
- Ensure a coordinated approach to customer relationship development across the business
- Meet order intake targets for the Ships account, including sales forecasting and budget input
- Strengthen the sales order pipeline and contribute to regional growth plans
- Manage market aspects of BMT UK/EU’s pipeline, focusing on accurate forecasting
- Attend events and exhibitions to promote BMT
- Develop strong working relationships with the Head of Ships Programme, sales team, and supporting functions

You’re skilled at creating networks, both locally and internationally, and you work well with others. You’re motivated, energising, and ready to make an impact in our team. A degree in business or engineering, or familiarity with Shipley processes and BMT’s capabilities, is a bonus—what matters most is your approach and your ability to build strong relationships.
