Job Title: Safety Engineering Consultant
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: UK β Weymouth
Flexibility: This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. Travel to customer sites or meetings will be required. We have offices in Bath, Bristol, Fareham, Glasgow, Plymouth, Weymouth, London & Teddington and we are happy to explore flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

Whatβs the role?
We are seeking Safety Engineering Consultants to join our Safety Engineering Capability. As part of the team you will deliver world class solutions to our varied client base, provide independent and assured safety advice, and support the delivery of safety projects to schedule, quality and budget while meeting client and corporate expectations. You will help clients understand and comply with UK safety legislation and all aspects of safety, particularly UK MOD Safety policy.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safety projects to schedule, quality and budget
- Develop and manage hazard logs; support HAZID and hazard review meetings
- Author safety assessment/safety case reports, including providing justification of ALARP status
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety legislation
- Communicate effectively with clients; present professionally both verbally and in writing; work well in a team
- Pursue professional accreditation (e.g., IEng or CEng) and receive support to achieve it
- Meet UK Ministry of Defence security requirements and be eligible to work in the UK
Qualifications
- Experience in UK Defence engineering or system safety; or experience in professional systems safety or risk management in infrastructure or energy sectors
- Knowledge of UK MOD safety regulation and standards (e.g., DSA Regulations, MRP, JSPs, ASEMS, POSMS, Def Stan 00-056/00-055, JSP815, JSP375)
- Experience in hazard logs, HAZID, hazard reviews, safety assessments and safety cases; ability to justify ALARP
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to professional accreditation
- Ability to satisfy UK MoD security requirements
