About the Role
As a Project Professional in BMT you will work in a varied project environment helping to define, lead and manage projects where outcomes are delivered successfully for our clients. You will contribute to BMT’s ability to continually deliver results across multiple domains.
Responsibilities
- The Delivery Project Manager:Identify, define, deliver and close work packages, simple or standard projects or groups of projects across the project delivery lifecycle.
- The Bid/Proposal Project Manager:Provide project management SME support to define a simple/standard project and estimate PM effort for bids/proposals; support cost estimation, initial delivery project structure in PM systems, and assurance/gate processes.
- Lead projects in a commercially focused, contract-based environment with strong financial performance reporting.
- Develop and support the Project Management function and best practice within BMT.
- Mentor or coach other staff undertaking project delivery tasks.
About You
You should be enthusiastic about delivering projects successfully and helping grow a robust project management community within the UK and across BMT’s global operations. Preferably you will have experience delivering or supporting projects in an engineering service environment with contractual relationships and a strong financial performance focus. You should be able to operate across predictive (plan-based) and adaptive (iterative) approaches, and have knowledge across domains such as products or systems, engineering services, software, IT, cyber, environmental systems, or business transformations. You may be expected to operate across different delivery domains within BMT; knowledge in maritime vessel, maritime systems, cyber service delivery or technical documentation domains is preferred but diverse backgrounds are welcome.
You will be able to undertake project definition and delivery responsibilities equivalent to SFIA8 Responsibilities Level 3 (Apply), with the ability to influence at Level 4. Your competency in project management should be at or equivalent to SFIA8 Project Management (PRMG) Skill Level 4.

Degree-level qualification in a project management- or engineering-related discipline is desirable. We support professional development and may fund membership of professional bodies such as APM or PMI.
Because of the nature of the work, this position requires full UK Security Clearance (SC) and residency in the UK for more than 5 years. Applicants must be able to attain or transfer the clearance.
