As a 3D Artist at BMT, you will create detailed simulation-ready models of ships and ports using LiDAR, CAD, and photographic references for our in-house simulation software, Rembrandt. You will work closely with naval architects to ensure technical accuracy and contribute to high-quality, believable simulations for diverse client projects. You will balance precision, quality, and speed, often working to tight deadlines while maintaining consistent, reliable output. Strong communication is essential; you will actively engage with colleagues, ask questions early, and ensure clarity to avoid downstream issues.

The role is varied but primarily focused on vessels, jetties, ports, and LiDAR-generated environment cleanup. You will be trained to work with real-world LiDAR data, ensuring assets are accurately positioned and aligned within the simulator. You will contribute to projects for a wide range of clients, from smaller organisations to large-scale programmes, which may involve varying budgets and time constraints and require you to make informed decisions on where to focus detail and effort to deliver the best possible result within scope.

The role is primarily remote; however, occasional visits to our Fareham office will be required, particularly during client training sessions, where you may be needed to support quick fixes or adjustments to simulation assets. There you will have access to our brand-new Digital Innovation and Simulation Centre in Fareham, where your work is presented on large-scale simulator displays used for client training and demonstrations. No maritime experience is required as training is provided, though any prior knowledge or interest in maritime environments would be beneficial. A strong foundation in 3D modelling and texturing is essential.

You will work in a collaborative, innovative environment with immersive simulators and mentorship, offering excellent opportunities to develop your skills in 3D art and maritime simulation.

We are increasingly using our knowledge and expertise to drive transformative designs, technology and solutions around the world that will contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). BMT's focus SDGs are Climate Action and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. These goals matter most to our stakeholders and are where we believe we can have the greatest impact towards a better future. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about addressing these global challenges and are proactive in finding opportunities to integrate sustainable practices as part of their role.
