HR Manager - Engineering, Construction & Infrastructure £65,000 - £75,000+ (DOE) + Benefits Hybrid Working Available A growing engineering and project delivery organisation is seeking an experienced HR Manager to take ownership of its people function and support a workforce operating across both office and site-based environments. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a hands-on HR leadership role offering significant autonomy and influence within a commercially focused business delivering projects across energy, infrastructure, industrial and engineering sectors. We're looking for a confident and pragmatic HR professional who understands the realities of project-driven businesses, can build credibility with operational teams and senior leaders alike, and enjoys balancing strategic priorities with practical day-to-day HR delivery. The Role As HR Manager, you will lead the HR function and oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, supporting both office and project-based teams. Key responsibilities include: * Leading, developing and managing the HR team, setting clear expectations and driving accountability for delivery. * Providing expert guidance on employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance and performance management processes. * Partnering with project and operational leaders on workforce planning and resource requirements. * Designing, implementing and embedding practical HR policies and procedures that support operational delivery while maintaining compliance. * Managing recruitment and resourcing activities across office and site-based functions. * Supporting pay, terms and conditions matters for a diverse operational workforce. * Driving employee engagement, retention and culture initiatives. * Working collaboratively with operational and safety teams on people-related compliance matters. * Ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation and HR best practice. * Producing HR metrics, workforce reporting and management information for senior leadership. Essential Requirements: An experienced HR professional who is comfortable operating within a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment. Experience will include: * Previous HR management experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, manufacturing or another project-led environment. * A genuine understanding of site culture, project pressures and operational workforces. * Strong employee relations experience with the confidence to handle sensitive and potentially complex people matters professionally and fairly. * Experience leading and developing HR teams, delegating effectively and driving accountability. * Demonstrable experience developing and embedding HR policies and procedures within an operational business. * Strong knowledge of UK employment law. * Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage effectively from frontline operatives through to senior leadership. * A confident and assertive communication style, capable of challenging constructively and influencing stakeholders when required. * A practical, commercially focused and solutions-oriented approach to HR. Desirable Experience: * CIPD qualification or equivalent professional experience. * Experience supporting a site-based, mobile or project-driven workforce. * Knowledge of NAECI or similar engineering construction employment frameworks. * Experience working within major infrastructure, industrial, energy or engineering project environments.
