We support a leading engineering and construction business delivering works on one of the UK’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes. Due to continued demand, they are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Manager to take ownership of Temporary Works across key delivery packages at Hinkley Point C. This is a senior, safety-critical role combining engineering authority, governance and on-site leadership within a highly regulated environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for the safe, compliant and fully assured delivery of Temporary Works, in line with BS 5975:2019 and CDM Regulations 2015, ensuring all solutions are technically robust and fully integrated with permanent works.
Key Responsibilities
- Temporary Works Leadership & Governance
- Lead all Temporary Works activities across assigned packages
- Maintain the Temporary Works Register, ensuring full lifecycle traceability
- Implement and enforce permit-to-load / permit-to-strike procedures
- Ensure full compliance with BS 5975:2019 across all stages of the Temporary Works lifecycle
- Work closely with TWCs, TWSs, contractors and client teams to maintain consistent standards
- Engineering & Technical Authority
- Develop Temporary Works design briefs aligned to site constraints
- Oversee and challenge designs to ensure buildability, safety and efficiency
- Review and challenge structural calculations, load paths and sequencing
- Ensure appropriate independent design checks are completed
- Confirm Temporary Works integration with Permanent Works
- Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all Temporary Works are installed, inspected, tested, certified and removed
- Implement ITPs and quality assurance processes
- Maintain accurate certification and as-built records
- Lead audits, inspections and continuous improvement
- Embed safe sequencing and design risk management across works
- Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide technical leadership to Temporary Works Coordinators and Supervisors
- Engage with engineering, construction and supply chain teams
- Report on Temporary Works status, risks and readiness
- Act as the key point of authority and accountable lead for Temporary Works across assigned areas
Requirements
- Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or similar)
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng / IEng preferred)
- CITB Temporary Works Coordinator certification
- Strong experience at senior TWC or Temporary Works Manager level
- In-depth knowledge of BS 5975:2019 and CDM Regulations
- Technical Capability
- Experience reviewing engineering design, structural calculations and load assessments
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and structural behaviour
- Experience working within structured Temporary Works governance environments
- Confident stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams
Package
- Salary up to £75,000
- Car allowance: £5,780
- 26 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Flexible working: 9-day fortnight or 5-day week
- Lodge allowance: £355.67 per week (tax free)
