Overview
We are seeking an experienced High Voltage (HV) Project Manager to lead the delivery of HV electrical projects from start to finish. This is a key role for an established utilities and energy‐sector contractor, offering excellent autonomy, long‐term career prospects, and the opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure and energy transition projects.
You will manage project planning, delivery, technical oversight, budgets, resources, and stakeholder relationships, ensuring safety and quality remain at the forefront of every decision.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Plan, scope, and manage HV projects from initiation through to completion
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Ensure on‐time, on‐budget delivery to required quality standards
- Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance on HV systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, and protection
- Review designs, drawings, and specifications for compliance and accuracy
- Resolve technical challenges and support engineering teams
- Stakeholder & Client Coordination
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams
- Lead project meetings and provide clear progress updates
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, and changes
- Resource & Financial Management
- Allocate and coordinate personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
- Manage project budgets, procurement, and reporting
- Ensure commercial processes and financial controls are followed
- Health, Safety & Quality
- Champion a strong safety culture across all project environments
- Conduct HSE audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments
- Implement quality assurance procedures and corrective actions where required
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records
- Produce progress reports, cost updates, and performance metrics for senior management
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related field (preferred)
- Professional PM certification (PMP, PRINCE2) advantageous
- Strong experience managing HV projects within utilities, engineering, or construction sectors
- Excellent technical knowledge of HV systems, equipment, and installations
- Proven background delivering complex projects with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication, leadership, planning, and risk‐management skills
