HSEQ Assistant Neath £30,000 p. a. + Benefits Package

We are working with a growing South Wales contractor that continues to secure long-term social housing, refurbishment, retrofit, cladding and construction projects across the region.

Due to continued growth, the company is looking to appoint an HSEQ Assistant to support its Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality function from its Neath office.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody with construction industry experience who enjoys compliance, administration and process-driven work and is looking to develop a long-term career within HSEQ.

The position is predominantly office based, with occasional visits to construction projects to support audits, inspections and compliance activities.

The Role

  • Supporting the HSEQ Manager and wider operational team.
  • Maintaining HSEQ records, registers and controlled documentation.
  • Preparing, issuing and filing HSEQ documentation.
  • Assisting with audits, inspections and compliance reporting.
  • Producing HSEQ statistics, reports and performance data.
  • Administering supplier and subcontractor approval processes.
  • Maintaining subcontractor competency records, insurance information, accreditations and compliance documentation.
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain outstanding documentation.
  • Maintaining approved supplier databases.
  • Supporting legal compliance and monitoring legislative updates.
  • Assisting with risk assessments, safe systems of work and toolbox talks.
  • Supporting environmental reporting, sustainability initiatives and waste management objectives.
  • Undertaking occasional audits and inspections on construction projects.
  • Working closely with office teams, site teams, suppliers and subcontractors.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who have

  • Previous experience within the construction industry.
  • Experience in an administrative, compliance, coordination or support role.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
  • An understanding of construction risk assessments and method statements.
  • A proactive and professional approach to their work.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake occasional site visits.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Construction qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • Experience supporting Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality or Compliance functions.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Previous experience as an HSEQ Assistant, SHEQ Assistant, Compliance Coordinator, Health & Safety Administrator or similar.
