Estimator / Senior Estimator Neath or Cardiff, South Wales £60,000 + Package (Car Allowance, Benefits & Career Progression) Permanent A well-established South Wales contractor with a turnover of approximately £45m is looking to appoint an Estimator to join its growing team based in Neath. Employing over 150 operatives alongside a strong commercial and operational team, the business delivers a diverse range of construction, refurbishment and specialist contracting projects across Wales and the South West. Their work spans sectors including retrofit decarbonisation, fire remediation, education, healthcare, public sector frameworks, maintenance, housing and specialist construction projects. This is an opportunity to join a business where no two tenders are the same. Rather than being confined to a single discipline or sector, you'll be involved in pricing a broad range of projects and work closely with experienced commercial professionals throughout the tender process. Working alongside an experienced Managing Estimator and supported by both estimating and quantity surveying resource, you'll play a key role in securing future workload for a business that continues to grow year on year. With continued business growth and investment in the commercial function, this role offers genuine long-term progression opportunities for an ambitious estimator looking to develop their career within a successful and expanding contractor. The Role As Estimator, you'll take ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring competitive, accurate and commercially robust bids. Typically managing around three live tenders at any one time, you'll be responsible for: * Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation. * Preparing accurate cost estimates, take-offs and pricing schedules. * Producing tender submissions and supporting documentation. * Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions. * Obtaining, analysing and levelling subcontractor and supplier quotations. * Liaising with operational, commercial and delivery teams throughout the bid process. * Attending pre-tender meetings and site visits where required. * Monitoring market conditions, labour availability, material pricing and industry trends. * Supporting successful project handovers to delivery teams. About You * Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry. * Experience pricing construction, refurbishment, maintenance, housing, public sector or specialist contracting projects. * Strong understanding of tendering processes and commercial principles. * Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and scope documents. * Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills. * Comfortable managing multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously. * Strong communication and relationship-building skills. * Proficient with Microsoft Excel and estimating software. * Full UK driving licence. What's On Offer * Salary circa £60,000 plus package. * Car allowance and additional benefits. * Structured support from an experienced Managing Estimator. * Exposure to a varied pipeline of projects across multiple sectors. * Long-term career development and progression opportunities. * Join a stable, established and growing contractor with a strong reputation across Wales and the South West. This role would suit an Estimator looking to move into a business that offers greater variety, genuine progression opportunities and the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects rather than a single specialist workstream
