Contracts Manager (Social Housing Retrofit & EWI) South Wales | Permanent or Freelance Considered £50,000 - £65,000 DOE + Car Allowance & Benefits Package

We are working with a well-established South Wales contractor that is undergoing significant expansion following the award of further social housing retrofit and decarbonisation projects across the region.

As part of the continued growth of its specialist retrofit division, the business is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee the delivery of External Wall Insulation (EWI), energy efficiency, refurbishment and planned improvement works across multiple social housing projects.

This is an opportunity to join a contractor with a growing pipeline of secured work and play a key role in the development of a dedicated team focused on improving housing stock and delivering long-term value for local communities.

This is a leadership role within a growing specialist retrofit division.

Success comes from understanding social housing delivery, retrofit construction and having the ability to lead teams, build client relationships and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and commercially.

The Role

  • Overseeing the successful delivery of multiple social housing retrofit and refurbishment projects.
  • Managing Site Managers and project delivery teams.
  • Leading programmes involving External Wall Insulation (EWI), fabric improvement and energy efficiency works.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
  • Supporting commercial and operational performance across the division.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and delivery partners.
  • Identifying project risks and implementing effective solutions.
  • Driving quality, compliance and customer satisfaction standards.
  • Supporting the continued growth and development of the specialist retrofit team.

About You

  • We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have experience within:
  • Social housing planned works.
  • External Wall Insulation (EWI) projects.
  • Retrofit and decarbonisation programmes.
  • Refurbishment and maintenance contracts.
  • Fabric improvement works.
  • Traditional construction environments.

You will be able to demonstrate

  • Previous Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager or Operational Management experience within social housing, refurbishment, maintenance or retrofit sectors.
  • A strong understanding of EWI systems and retrofit construction methods.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and site teams simultaneously.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of project outcomes.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and relevant construction qualifications.
