An established and rapidly growing engineering services business is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to drive strategic growth across the UK.

Operating across major infrastructure, power generation, renewables, offshore wind, industrial manufacturing, process engineering, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and energy sectors, the business delivers complex Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), Construction and Commissioning solutions to some of the UK's most significant projects.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a commercially driven individual with strong industry relationships and a proven track record of winning new business, developing strategic partnerships and driving sustainable revenue growth within the engineering sector.

The Opportunity

Reporting into senior leadership, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the company's long-term growth strategy.

Working closely with operational, technical and commercial teams, you will identify and secure new opportunities, strengthen existing client relationships and expand market presence across key sectors including power, renewables, industrial manufacturing, utilities, infrastructure and process industries.

This role would suit either an experienced Business Development Director or an exceptional senior Business Development Manager ready to step into a director-level position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Identify and secure new opportunities across power, renewables, industrial, infrastructure and process sectors.
  • Develop relationships with end clients, EPC contractors, principal contractors, consultants and supply chain partners.
  • Drive growth across existing key accounts while identifying new revenue opportunities.
  • Support major bid submissions, framework agreements and strategic pursuit opportunities.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and support contract development activities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging industry opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with technical and operational teams to develop compelling client solutions.
  • Support marketing and brand positioning initiatives across target sectors.
  • Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
  • Deliver against agreed growth, revenue and business development targets.

  • Proven track record in business development within engineering, E&I, electrical, energy, construction, infrastructure or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of engineering project environments and contractor-led service delivery.
  • Experience winning high-value contracts and developing long-term client relationships.
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking capability.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of driving revenue growth and market expansion.

Qualifications

-Degree in Business, Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

-Full UK Driving Licence.

-Experience working for an engineering contractor, E&I specialist, EPC contractor or engineering consultancy.

-Knowledge of engineering, construction, commissioning or maintenance services.

-Experience developing strategic partnerships and framework agreements.
