Nuclear Safety Culture & Regulatory Interface in Bridgwater

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nuclear Safety Culture & Regulatory Interface professional to join a major engineering organisation delivering work on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure and energy projects. This is a highly influential role focused on developing, embedding and continuously improving Nuclear Safety Culture across a major project environment and its supply chain. Working closely with senior leaders, project delivery teams, client stakeholders and regulatory bodies, you will help ensure the highest standards of nuclear safety, compliance and organisational learning are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will act as a key interface between the business, the client and regulators, helping to drive a positive safety culture, support regulatory engagement and promote continuous improvement across the organisation.

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting and influencing Nuclear Safety Culture across the business, ensuring safety principles, learning behaviours and a questioning attitude are embedded throughout operational teams and the wider supply chain. This position combines strategic influence with practical engagement, offering the opportunity to work with leadership teams, support regulatory interventions, analyse performance trends and drive lasting cultural improvement across a nationally important programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support the implementation of Nuclear Safety Culture strategy
• Promote Nuclear Safety Culture throughout the organisation and wider supply chain
• Support leadership teams in demonstrating visible and effective Nuclear Safety leadership
• Lead and participate in Nuclear Safety Culture communities of best practice
• Foster a strong culture of learning, continuous improvement and questioning attitudes
• Act as a key interface between project teams, client representatives and regulators
• Support regulatory visits, audits, reviews and intervention activities
• Analyse culture, behavioural and performance data to identify improvement opportunities
• Promote human performance principles, latent error prevention and leadership effectiveness
• Work closely with supply chain partners to ensure Nuclear Safety Culture expectations are fully understood and implemented
• Drive organisational learning and share best practice across project teams

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Quality or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of Nuclear Safety Principles
• Experience engaging with regulators, notified bodies or client assurance functions
• Ability to analyse culture and performance data and convert findings into meaningful improvement initiatives
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
• Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance

Desirable Experience

• Experience working on Nuclear New Build projects
• Knowledge of EPR or PWR reactor technologies
• Experience working within complex supply chains
• Human Performance, organisational learning or behavioural improvement experience
• Experience supporting regulatory compliance within highly regulated environments
