Mechanical Estimator (Nuclear & Major Projects) Up to £70,000 + Car Allowance + Comprehensive Benefits Package Bridgwater | Bristol An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a major engineering delivery team supporting one of the UK's largest and most significant nuclear infrastructure programmes. Working on a flagship project within a highly regulated environment, you'll play a key role in developing robust, commercially competitive tender submissions for complex mechanical building services packages. Supporting the Hinkley Point C programme doesn't necessarily mean being based on site every day. Alongside project activities at HPC, the team also operates from offices in Bridgwater and Bristol, offering a level of flexibility not commonly associated with major nuclear projects. The Role You will be responsible for the preparation of detailed cost estimates across a range of complex mechanical building services works, supporting tender submissions from initial enquiry through to final commercial review. Operating within a highly regulated project environment, you'll produce technically robust estimates, assess delivery risks and opportunities, and contribute to the successful tendering of major mechanical packages. Key Responsibilities * Prepare detailed estimates for mechanical building services packages. * Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation. * Undertake detailed quantity take-offs and pricing exercises. * Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. * Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering proposals. * Develop tender clarifications, assumptions and exclusions. * Support tender review and governance processes. * Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to develop winning bids. * Maintain accurate estimating and tender records throughout the bid lifecycle. What We're Looking For * Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within Building Services, M&E or MEP contracting, ideally delivering projects within the nuclear, energy, infrastructure or other highly regulated sectors. * Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, heating and cooling systems, pipework, public health services and associated mechanical plant. * Experience preparing estimates for complex construction, engineering or infrastructure projects. * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. * Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. * Experience working within major projects, nuclear, defence, energy, power generation or similarly regulated environments would be highly advantageous. * Relevant engineering qualifications are desirable.
