The Role: Our client is a major name within the cable manufacturing and accessories industry and are looking to onboard a new Business Development Manager with a focus on the Rail sector. The role will see you selling a huge array of markers, lugs, glands, ties used by OEMs tier 1 and 2 contractors and specialist distribution partners within the rail industry. They have an excellent offering with accredited CPD presentations to take to their contractor customers which sales people will be trained on.
The Business Development Manager will be targeting a customer base of Rail OEMS, Rail Contractors and some Distributors within these sectors, working on specifications and installation projects such as HS2 and Transport for London with project managers, engineering teams and buyers. This is a fast paced and sometimes technical sales role so an understanding of electrical and cabling would be a huge advantage but reading technical drawings is not essential as support will be provided for this.
The Rail BDM will be supported by an in-house sales team, inside Account Managers, and Technical Manager who will be supporting with lead generation, quotations and customer info so teamwork, communication and collaboration is key to success in the role. This role will see you conducting new business development 70% of your time and managing existing projects 30%. The role will involve a lot of scoping meetings initially to identify opportunities for upselling and cross selling but will evolve as the candidate becomes more established.

We are looking for individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Have a field sales background with an electrical bias or selling cabling ideally.
- Can demonstrate a track record in selling to Rail OEMS, contractors ideally.
- A team player, hard worker and go-getter attitude.
- Sales reps from an electrical wholesaler, cabling or lighting role would work well.
- Professional in approach.
- Full & Clean Driving license.
Salary: Up to £55,000 basic salary DoE + 20% bonus + car allowance + 22 days holiday + pension scheme + Healthcare scheme.
Candidate Location: England or Wales.
