A fast-growing and well-funded sustainability tech scale-up is looking for its first dedicated sales hire to take their proven, award-winning solution to market. This is a unique opportunity to join a commercially backed start-up tackling one of the biggest challenges in climate and packaging: how we track, sort and recycle plastic effectively across the supply chain.
This innovative UK-based scale-up is building a technology platform that enables connected packaging and traceability within the circular economy. Their flagship solution combines cloud-based software, a rich data registry and web-based tools to give brands and manufacturers unprecedented visibility over their packaging's lifecycle - from production line to recycling centre and beyond.
By integrating with packaging printers, automated sorting systems and consumer-facing apps, their platform allows businesses to:
- Tag and trace individual items using unique QR codes
- Capture and analyse detailed packaging data
- Provide consumers with engaging digital experiences
- Demonstrate compliance and track ESG metrics
- Improve recycling accuracy and outcomes
Their mission is simple but ambitious - to eliminate oil dependency and waste by making packaging intelligent, traceable and circular.
This is a full-cycle BDM role with a focus on winning new business. You'll be selling a mix of SaaS and tech-enabled services to packaging producers, brands, retailers and supply chain stakeholders. Backed by a strategic CCO and strong marketing foundations, you'll have the autonomy to shape your own pipeline, supported by the wider commercial team. You will be the first commercial hire under the CCO, and you must bring an attitude of getting your sleeves rolled up.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying, prospecting and nurturing top-of-funnel opportunities
- Running discovery calls and qualifying inbound leads
- Leading consultative sales processes and product demos
- Building commercial proposals and demonstrating ROI
- Managing opportunities in HubSpot and feeding into GTM strategy
- Supporting market segmentation and competitor analysis
- Collaborating closely with leadership to shape sales best practices
What We're Looking For:
- 3 to 5 years' experience in a closing role (B2B SaaS or tech-enabled services preferred)
- Profiles with experience selling to the FMCG, retail or packaging industries are of particular interest
- A consistent record of exceeding sales targets
- Ability to engage multiple stakeholders across technical and commercial teams
- Persistence and patience
- Curious, coachable and mission-driven
The Package:
- £60,000 base salary
- Uncapped commission (based on contracted revenue, paid on receipt)
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Pension scheme
- Remote working (expected 2-4 days/month in Chester region)
- Mission-led, purpose-driven team culture
- Cake on your birthday
