About the company

A well-established, independent provider of B2B market intelligence and commercial conferences for the global energy and commodities sector. The business runs an international portfolio of 40-plus conferences each year across multiple global hubs, and is currently looking for a Senior Conference Producer to join the team on a 14-month fixed term contract covering maternity leave, treated more like a permanent position given the length.

Role responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a portfolio of 4 to 5 international B2B conferences, including onsite delivery, picking up projects partway through the production cycle, and leading at least one event from inception to completion.
  • Write compelling, well researched conference programmes reflecting the topics most relevant to each sector.
  • Identify and secure senior, high calibre speakers for every programme.
  • Define the commercial proposition for each event and build a clear growth strategy for the portfolio.
  • Work closely with sponsorship sales, delegate marketing, operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Deliver projects to deadline and on budget, on a portfolio of around 5 to 6 conferences a year.
  • Travel internationally to deliver events and, where needed, for client meetings.

Candidate background

  • 3+ years' experience producing commercial B2B conferences on a paid delegate model (not sponsorship led or free to attend).
  • Direct experience in energy or commodities markets is a nice to have, not essential.
  • Comfortable joining mid cycle and picking up existing projects at pace, given the fixed term nature of this role.
  • Strong commercial instincts and a track record of hitting delegate and revenue targets.
  • Confident, senior communicator, able to secure buy-in from speakers, sponsors and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Genuinely open to a 14-month fixed term contract and to being office based for the majority of the week.
