Contract Job Opportunity – Production Planner
Location: North Somerset (commutable from Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Nailsea)
Rate: £17.00 – £19.00 per hour
Contract Duration: Initial 6 months – highly likely to extend (ongoing project workload)
Type: Contract (inside IR35 or via umbrella company)
Our client is a world-leading designer and manufacturer of highly specialised, high-technology capital equipment used in semiconductor and advanced materials R&D. Due to sustained growth and a strong order book, they urgently require an experienced Production Planner to join their Supply Chain team on a contract basis.
The Role
A critical hands-on planning position ensuring customer systems are built and delivered on time, to cost and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering and Sales, you will manage material flow through the factory in line with the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
Key Duties
- Raise and manage work orders from kitting through to closure
- Organise component kitting and proactively resolve shortages
- Maintain and update part lists throughout the build & test cycle
- Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and coordinate any required rework
- Keep accurate, real-time records in the ERP system
- Support pre-shipment reviews and ensure systems are complete before despatch
- Work daily with Build Team Leaders and Lead Technicians to resolve material issues
- Provide occasional support for spares and customer upgrade projects
- Maintain planning KPIs and highlight upcoming schedule changes
About You
- Immediate (or short notice) availability preferred
- Proven experience as a Production Planner / Material Planner / Work Order Controller in a complex manufacturing or assembly environment (ideally electro-mechanical or high-tech products)
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent understanding of BOMs, work orders, kitting and Engineering Change processes
- Confident communicator, comfortable working at shop-floor and management level
- Highly organised, detail-focused and proactive problem-solver
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills advantageous
