Manufacturing Engineer Chippenham £18-£22 PH (Paye) // £23.50 – £28.80 (Umbrella) Ongoing contract We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading manufacturing company in a dynamic role supporting manufacturing excellence. You’ll play a pivotal role in extensive manufacturing department while contributing to process optimisation and lean manufacturing initiatives. Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, resolve challenges, and uphold the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities: * Support production by refining manufacturing processes to ensure relevance, efficiency, and lean practices. * Source equipment and perform engineering tasks to maintain smooth operations. * Collaborate with the Obsolescence Team to identify and replace outdated components. * Plan, prioritize, and optimize resources to meet deadlines and business needs. * Maintain accurate documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies. * Champion health and safety protocols, housekeeping standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Mentor team members and apprentices, sharing knowledge to enhance team capabilities. * Adapt to shifting priorities and support other departments as required. What We’re Looking For: * Completion of a time-served mechanical/electrical apprenticeship or equivalent. * Strong knowledge of wiring practices and multi-skilled in electrical/mechanical tasks. * Computer literacy and proficiency in documentation. * Proven ability to plan workloads, communicate effectively, and work autonomously or as part of a team. * Commitment to health, safety, and quality standards. Beneficial Skills (Not Mandatory): * Experience with wire looms/loom frames. * Basic understanding of electronics. * Driving licence (advantageous but not essential). * Previous experience in a similar manufacturing or rail automation environment.
