BMR Solutions are working with a global engineering and technology manufacturer to recruit a Senior Product Cost Engineer – Sustaining to join their engineering team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong background in product design, value engineering, and cost reduction to play a key role in delivering engineering improvements across a range of complex products. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing engineering changes while maintaining product performance, quality, reliability, and compliance standards.

The Role

Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and external suppliers, you will identify and deliver cost-reduction initiatives through practical engineering solutions. You will take ownership of engineering design changes, from concept through validation and release, ensuring improvements can be successfully implemented into production environments. The role will involve evaluating existing designs, developing lower-cost alternatives, validating proposed changes through analysis and testing, and supporting their introduction into manufacturing.

About You

We are looking for a proactive engineer with experience delivering product or component design changes within a manufacturing environment. You will have a strong understanding of engineering design principles and a proven track record of identifying and implementing cost-saving improvements.

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience delivering engineering design changes within a manufacturing or product-based environment.
  • Proven experience identifying and implementing cost-reduction or value-engineering initiatives.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering design capability.
  • Experience working closely with manufacturing teams, supply chain functions, and suppliers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Chartered Engineer status, or progression towards chartership, would be advantageous.
