This role is ideal for an experienced Electrical Designer who’s confident designing complex electrical systems, producing detailed drawings, and working to recognised industry standards. You’ll need solid experience with CAD tools (Solid Edge or AutoCAD preferred) and a strong understanding of compliance requirements such as EN13849, UL, CSA and CE marking. A relevant engineering degree is required. Chartered status is desirable but not essential.
You’ll be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for advanced products, working closely with mechanical, software and firmware teams. You’ll also support project planning, mentor junior team members, and help drive continuous improvement across the engineering function.
The Role:
- Design and develop electrical systems and components for complex products
- Produce detailed electrical drawings, schematics and layouts using CAD
- Work to relevant standards including EN13849, UL, CSA and CE marking requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Plan engineering tasks and support resource allocation
- Mentor and support junior engineers, including onboarding new team members
- Ensure all design output meets internal quality standards and regulatory compliance
- Support other departments with technical queries
- Lead and contribute to continuous improvement activities within the engineering team
- Chair meetings related to your function and attend cross-functional engineering reviews
The Person:
- Experienced in electrical design for precision or industrial systems
- Strong CAD capability (Solid Edge/AutoCAD preferred)
- Confident working to regulatory and compliance standards
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively
- Comfortable mentoring others and contributing to a positive team culture
- Able to identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and workflows
- Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (Chartered preferred but not essential)
