Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and manufacturing client within the packaging and industrial automation sector. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Design & Software Design Engineer with strong PLC and control systems expertise. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-speed machinery projects from concept through to commissioning, with scope to lead technical aspects of multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical design of automated machinery control systems
- PLC software development using Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) and Beckhoff (TwinCAT)
- Control system safety analysis using Sistema
- Ensure compliance with CE marking, NEC, CSA, and UL standards
- In-house commissioning and occasional on-site commissioning (UK & overseas)
- Collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams
- Technical leadership on projects involving multiple engineering disciplines
- Evaluation and implementation of new automation and control technologies
- Continuous improvement of machine performance, reliability, and safety
Skills & Experience Required
- HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline
- Strong experience in electrical design and PLC software development
- Handsāon experience with Rockwell / AllenāBradley PLCs
- Handsāon experience with Beckhoff / TwinCAT PLC systems
- Background in packaging machinery, automation, or specialāpurpose machinery
- Knowledge of functional safety, risk assessment, and Sistema
- Understanding of CE, UL, CSA, and NEC compliance
- Ability to work independently and lead technical elements of projects
- Strong faultāfinding, problemāsolving, and commissioning capability
- Excellent communication skills and customerāfacing experience
- Willingness to travel occasionally (UK & international)
