An innovative and rapidly growing medical device manufacturer is seeking a Project Development / Manufacturing Engineer to support the next phase of commercialisation and manufacturing excellence. The business operates within a highly regulated ISO13485 environment and is committed to delivering market-leading orthopaedic implant solutions. Backed by private investment, the organisation is focused on scaling operations while maintaining exceptional quality and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods
- Analyse process deviations, trends and performance data
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean tools (Kaizen, VSM, PFMEA)
- Program and operate CNC machinery (including CAD/CAM interfaces such as AlphaCAM)
- Support validation, documentation and regulatory compliance (ISO13485, GMP)
- Assist in SOP creation, risk assessments (PUWER, COSHH) and training materials
- Maintain production equipment and optimise output
- Liaise with design and planning teams to ensure manufacturability
- Contribute to KPI reporting and structured project planning
This role offers exposure to new product introduction (NPI) and bespoke implant manufacturing within a regulated medical environment.
Requirements
- Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role
- Experience within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical devices preferred)
- Strong understanding of CNC machining & CAD/CAM (AlphaCAM desirable)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with Lean manufacturing tools
- Knowledge of ISO13485 and GMP principles
- Strong problem-solving and project delivery skills
- Experience with SolidWorks advantageous
