The role would suit applicants who are passionate about prototype research, development, testing, validation, and continuous improvement within the field of electronics and electrical engineering. Applicants will ideally have a Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline and strong hands-on laboratory skills. Candidates with experience in embedded programming, mechanical modelling, or RF communication theory will have a considerable advantage and are encouraged to apply.
As part of the Research Team, you will contribute to developing cutting-edge solutions, from early-stage concept realisation to implementation, supporting technology advancement and diversification initiatives.
The Role:
- Conduct multi-disciplinary research in electrical and electronics modelling, simulation, and analysis.
- Enhance sensor-based condition monitoring technologies.
- Execute proof-of-concept projects including rapid prototyping, development, and testing.
- Test and refine prototypes to meet design specifications and performance criteria.
- Participate in external technical collaborations, write papers, attend conferences, and engage with the academic community.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and research in electronics and electrical engineering.
- Support internal product and service delivery, ensuring smooth integration of new technologies.
- Collaborate across departments on interdisciplinary projects.
The Person:
- Proven ability to conduct independent research and solve complex problems.
- Proficiency in design/simulation tools (e.g., LTSPICE, Matlab, Altium).
- Strong hands-on skills in soldering, wiring, and lab equipment use.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or C preferred).
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience contributing to technical papers and presenting findings.
- Experience in mechanical modelling and 3D printing.
- Experience in embedded software programming.
- Knowledge of reflectometry-based technologies (TDR, STDR, SSTDR, FDR).
- Knowledge of communication or RF theories.
